Mould-Growth Study in Building Materials Exposed to Warm and Humid Climate Using Heat and Mass Transfer (HAMT) EnergyPlus Simulation Method

Commercial energy consumption currently accounts for 8.6% of the total national in India and it is predicted to surge upcoming years. To tackle this issue, building envelope insulation being promoted through codes standards reduce cooling heating demand hence overall demand. However, with prolonged exposure humid ambient conditions warm-humid locations, materials undergo decay their hygrothermal properties, which induces mould growth increases that needed latent load. Mould growth, turn, harms occupant health. Therefore, study attempts evaluate mould-growth index (MGI) coastal city Mangalore, Karnataka, using heat mass transfer (HAMT) model. The MGI one autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) wall assembly a representative commercial has been studied by integrating EnergyPlus Python plugin. simulated results suggest annual mean AAC 3.5 will cover about 30–70% surface area. Furthermore, was concluded temperature, humidity, solar radiation are key parameters on material.
